NYC High School Law Teachers Introduced to Curriculum on the Death Penalty
On March 19, 2008, about two dozen New York high school law teachers
gathered for an intensive workshop on using the Death Penalty
Information Center’s award-winning high school program, Educational Curriculum on the Death Penalty.
Teachers were encouraged to engage their students in a challenging and
rewarding study of one of today’s most debated topics.
Highlights of the day included:
- An in-depth exploration of Educational Curriculum on the Death Penalty, including its two, 10-day lesson plans, and resources.
- A model lesson, with emphasis on how Educational Curriculum on the Death Penalty meets national educational standards.
- Tips from experts on finding and utilizing outside speakers and films to supplement lessons.

Teachers remarked that the professional day was “very informative and
useful,” and it was “great how it was presented for different
disciplines.”
