On March 30, 2026, the Supreme Court of Florida denied the state’s motion to lift the stay, explaining that the “circuit court continues to have concurrent jurisdiction to rule on motions related to DNA testing and successive claims filed by the petitioner.” A status report on all pending issues from the circuit court is due to the Supreme Court of Florida by 5pm, April 2, 2026.

On March 26, 2026, the Supreme Court of Florida “stayed pending further order of this Court.” The Court allowed the State until 5pm Friday, March 27, 2026 to provide a report addressing the status of DNA testing.
